Expirations of Products
The expirations of products were found to depend on all four parameters (patient arrival rate, inventory level, and product life-time). The number of expirations exponentially decreased when product-life or patient arrivals increased. However, it exponentially increased relative to an increase in product inventory. The transfer window of 25 weeks was found to not only not improve the system, but was actually found to hurt the system as it cost money. It did not improve expirations and had large amounts of transfers.
